Christine Davis picks up her first WSOP Circuit title following a strong run
Event #10, the $300 Ladies Event at the 2024 World Series of Poker Circuit Playground, has ended after almost 14 hours. Christine Davis was the last woman standing at the end after she beat Nancy Brett heads-up for her first WSOP Circuit (WSOPC) ring and the $9,335 winner’s prize.
The tournament drew 145 entries and smashed the $10,000 guarantee with a $35,525 prize pool. Brett got off to a good start, doubling up early after cracking pocket Aces with pocket Kings. Florence Masset would also be among the chip leaders, maximizing the value of her second nut flush about halfway through the day.
Davis, Brett, and Yongwei Gao each scored multiple knockouts after the bubble to reach the final table with the largest stacks. Denyse Mignault (10th for $800) entered the final table short-stacked and would be the first player eliminated after running into Nathasha Tatta’s ace-king. She would be followed to the rail by Masset (9th for $930), Gao (8th for $1,070), and Zerina Brenie (7th for $1,230).
Elisabetta Bertucci started the final table with the second-shortest stack and would eventually finish in sixth place ($1,420) after Davis turned a straight. Davis would have twice the chips as the closest competitor at this stage.
Stacey Sullivan then found herself with just three big blinds after losing a huge flip to Davis but would double up twice before busting Laurie Willett-Turner in fifth place ($1,710). Natasha Tatta would be the next to fall in third place ($3,640) to set up the showdown between Davis and Brett.
After running into Davis’ ace-king in a preflop clash, Brett was left with ten big blinds and fell to Davis’ pocket nines shortly after, taking home $6,180 as runner-up.
