Supila bags his latest win at the Triton $50,000 buy-in PLO event
Samuli Sipila continues to dominate in Pot-Limit Omaha events and is now in 16th place in the 2024 Card Player Player of the Year standings. He has over $2.1 million in live cashes and four wins in his six final table appearances.
Sipila picked up his most recent title in Montenegro in the $50,000 buy-in PLO event at the Triton Poker Super High Roller Series for $839,000 and the biggest payday of his career. He also won the championship at the series’ $25,000 buy-in PLO event for $535,000 two days earlier.
Sipila earned most of his $2.9 million in career winnings this year, including two titles and two final tables at the PokerGo Tour PLO Series. “I had hopes, obviously,” said Sipila after the win. “Obviously, there’s a lot of skill. It’s not just going all-in… but to be fair, I have run really well.”
Sixty-one entrants created a $3,050,000 prize pool, with the top 11 finishers earning a payday. Five-time Triton title holder Danny Tang (7th for $146,000) and ten-time Triton winner Jason Koon (10th for $76,300) were among the players who ran deep.
Eelis Parssinen followed up his fourth-place finish in the $100,000 PLO main event to take the same spot at this tournament for $300,100, and Patrik Antonius finished third for $390,000 and his eighth cash of the series.
Jose ‘Nacho’ Barbero held about a 3:1 chip lead when heads-up play began, but Sipila returned to the lead after securing a big pot with a nut flush. After a second big win with top set, Barbero (2nd for $596,300) was left with a few big blinds before Sipila ended the tournament with a nine-high straight to secure the title.
