Thunder Valley Casino Resort will host the WPT tourney beginning March 23
Thunder Valley Casino Resort is a popular stop on the World Poker Tour and will host the 2024 edition of the $3,500 buy-in WPT Rolling Thunder Championship from March 23-26.
The tournament in Lincoln, California, near Sacramento, typically draws a large number of entrants. Leading up to the Main Tour championship event, the WPT Rolling Thunder series, which kicks off on March 7, features 21 tournaments on the schedule, with buy-ins ranging from as little as $200 up to $3,500.
The 2023 WPT Rolling Thunder tournament attracted 590 players, with Scott Eskenazi joining the WPT Champions Club after taking the title and the $361,600 first-place prize. He would beat Jeremy Joseph (2nd for $234,000) heads up to win the championship. WPT commentator Tony Dunst was among the players at the final table but was sent to the rail in sixth place for $73,400.
Day 1 of this year’s event starts on March 23 at 11 AM, which is the only starting flight. Day 2 will commence at the same hour on March 24 for those who survived the previous night. Days 3 and 4 will follow on subsequent days, also at 11 AM, with the final table set to start on March 26.
The WPT Rolling Thunder series starts on March 7 with a $300 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em tournament with $50,000 in guaranteed prizes. Other highlights of the series include a $1,100 No-Limit Hold’em deep stack event on March 14 with a minimum $1 million prize pool, and the one-day $1,100 Pot-Limit Omaha tournament should attract some of the top PLO players to Thunder Valley on March 22.
