Chris Moneymaker continues his poker tourney trek across Florida
The biggest poker tournament held at the Daytona Beach Racing & Card Club is coming up this April. Poker legend Chris Moneymaker will bring the highly anticipated Moneymaker Poker Tour event to the city.
The series will run from April 17 to 29, with 12 trophy rounds, and the event promises a minimum of $600,000 in guaranteed prizes, the highest offered to date in the poker room’s Great American Poker Tournaments (GAPT) series.
Moneymaker became famous after winning the 2003 World Series of Poker, which helped initiate a poker boom, bringing his years of experience to the tournament. From his origins as a part-time restaurant worker and accountant, Moneymaker has become a revered figure in the poker world, currently serving as both tour founder and ambassador.
President and GM of Daytona Beach Racing & Card Club, Fred Guzman, said, “As a highly regarded professional in the poker world, Chris Moneymaker brings considerable prestige to this event. His track record of exceeding guarantees and ensuring the highest quality of play adds an extra layer of excitement to our Great American Poker Tournaments series.”
The GAPT series launched in 2023, bringing in players from all over the Sunshine State, and has awarded more than $1.5 million in tournament prizes.
“We are excited to be hosting another stop this year with Chris Moneymaker and Tony Burns,” said GAPT Tournament Director Byron Rodriguez. “They have been exceptional partners, and we expect a great environment of good action and non-stop poker play. This year, we are happy to announce that there will be over $600,000 in guaranteed prizes for the event.”
