Kevin Mirshahi was found murdered three months after having gone missing

The body of Canadian crypto influencer Kevin Mirshahi, who had been missing since June, was recently found in a Montreal park. Police confirmed that Mirshahi’s decomposing remains were discovered by a passerby in Île-de-la-Visitation Park on October 30. Authorities conducted an autopsy to verify the identity, determining it to be Mirshahi. A woman will now have to face legal consequences in relation to this recent event.

Known in the Montreal cryptocurrency scene, Mirshahi was reported missing following an incident on June 21, when he and three others were abducted from a Montreal condominium. The three other individuals managed to escape, but Mirshahi’s whereabouts had remained unknown until this recent discovery.

In connection with the case, a 32-year-old woman named Joanie Lepage was arrested in August and charged with first-degree murder. Although the exact motive remains under investigation, some in the crypto community have raised questions about Mirshahi’s business dealings.

He was the founder of “Crypto Paradise Island,” a private investment firm that became controversial after the Québec financial regulator, Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF), prohibited him from acting as a broker or investment advisor in 2021. This ban included restrictions on posting related content on social media, which was reinforced by the AMF shortly after his abduction.

The incident reflects growing concerns over the safety of individuals involved in the cryptocurrency industry. Cases of kidnappings, assaults, and even murders targeting high-profile crypto figures have appeared globally. Recently, another Canadian crypto executive, WonderFi CEO Dean Skurka, was reportedly abducted and forced to pay a substantial ransom. Similar incidents have also been reported abroad, with kidnappings and ransom demands targeting cryptocurrency holders in various countries.

The Mirshahi case is still being actively investigated by local law enforcement.
